Truly a gastronomic journey, culinary travel is an art - whether roaming markets of Asia for food prepared in fantastic (or wild) ways, spending a weekend at a country inn cooking comfort food, or immersing in an Italian family kitchen absorbing the secrets of a rich risotto and a fine Barolo.

Our Kick-Off cooking school vacation list

This is You!

Or not. Perhaps the culinary vacation of your dreams lies in a fantastic resort. Perhaps it's staying at home over the fire.  Either way, we hope you find inspiration in our kick-off cooking school vacation list.  Bon appetit!

1)  A cooking vacation at home seems appropriate in today's economy, and the Pacific Northwest is a perfect place to escape from the dreary news and gray weather to create what Bon Vivant School of Cooking in Seattle calls its WINTER SEAFOOD EXTRAVAGANZA.

On February 28, the small class will dive into Crab Stuffed Trout; Clam Chowder; Black Cod Mousse; and Poached Salmon with Hollandaise Sauce; among others.  Sounds fantastic, and dreaming of Cioppino next has us going...

2)  Red Mountain Resort & Spa cooking demonstrations - Southern Utah is an outdoor playground of hiking, mountain biking, kayaking. Golf among the red rocks is gorgeous, and Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon make quite a doorstep.  To top it off, those grand outdoors deserve a feast for the gastronomic senses.

3)  Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay cooking school - Learn the culinary secrets of Asia. Has a nice ring to it, yes? One of the world's top resorts puts a tandoori oven, Asian cook range, and duck roaster at your service to uncover them.

4) The Boar's Head Inn in Charlottesville, owned by the University of Virginia, says "Supreme an orange for a fresh fruit salsa. Enclose brie and raspberries in a puff pastry purse. Skewer lamb tenderloin on rosemary sprigs."

We're sold. But we do need to know what it means to "supreme"...can you help?
