Day 1 Arrive Taipei

Check in to the Grand Hyatt Taipei. Spend the morning enjoying luxurious accommodations and facilities. Afternoon at leisure to explore the premier shopping district in Taipei 101 and Warner Brothers area. Taipei, one of the tallest buildings in the world is the most recognizable landmark in Taipei, designed by famous architect C.Y. Lee. Afterward, enjoy Taiwan style welcome dinner with beef noodle dishes and steam buns.

Day 2 Taipei

Visit Wu Ching’s Gold Creations and browse intricately designed gold art pieces created by Master Artist Wu Ching. Then stop by the Tittot Crystal Museum where you can pick up some of the most stunning and detailed glasswork in the world. Afterward, visit Yingge, the “Pottery Capital of Taiwan.” Return to Taipei in the late afternoon and head to Shihlin Night Market, one of the largest night markets in Taipei with hundreds of different shops and outdoor stalls.

 

 

Day 3 Taipei / Sun Moon Lake

Visit the Artilize Store where you’ll find tablet art which can be customized with over 600,000 pictures. Afterward, depart for Sun Moon Lake. En route, stop in Taichung, 3rd largest city in Taiwan and visit Jingming First Street a boutique street with open-air cafes and restaurants. You can also browse all the artistic treasures at Donghai Artist’s Street, a popular area with stores owned by local artists. Arrive at Sun Moon Lake in the evening

Day 4 Sun Moon Lake

Day at leisure to relax at the Lalu and discover why its reputation as a relaxing, re-invigorating retreat destination is well-earned. Take a dip in the pool and enjoy the innovative overflow design that makes you feel as if you’re floating in the lake.

 

 

Day 5 Puli / Kaoshiung

Visit the nearby town of Puli, a traditional village famous for its winery. Sample the winery products – you can find everything from chocolate to hand cream to shampoo, all based around rice wine. The famous Zhongtai Zen Temple is also in Puli. In the afternoon, head toward Kaoshiung where you may choose to browse the Kaoshiung Night Market or take a cruise on Lover River.

 

 

Day 6 Kaoshiung / Taitung

Visit Mountain of Buddhist’s Delight Monastery, the largest temple complex in Taiwan. Join in chanting or sitting sessions, or a guided meditation class. Then take a tour of the Spring & Autumn Pavilions and Confucius Temple. Afterward, board flight to Taitung.

Day 7 Taitung

Taitung is famous for its Hot Spring Resort, and you can bathe in the open air along the riverside in breathtaking surroundings. Take the morning to relax and pamper yourself at the Hotel Royal Chihpen, a resort with luxurious hot spring facilities. Taitung also has a rich aboriginal culture and is home to many indigenous tribes. In the afternoon, take a drive to Dulan, a seaside village. Visit the Amis Tribe and watch them perform some of their cultural songs.

 

 

Day 8 Taitung

Visit the Bunun Tribe and Taoyuan Primary School, which is attended by local aboriginal children. Interact with the bright young children who may someday determine the future of Taiwan. In the afternoon, visit the National Museum of Pre-History for a fascinating look at Taiwan’s cultural past. It showcases the prehistoric and aboriginal cultures of Taiwan using artifacts, research, and re-creations.

 

 

Day 9 Hualien

Drive to Hualien this morning. En route, visit the home and studio of Tian, Kui Shi, a noted photographer and cultural advocate who has devoted his life to preserving the culture of his ancestors, the Atayal tribe. Afterward, visit Tarako Gorge National Park, the “Grand Canyon” of Taiwan. Taroko is a broad marble gorge with precipitous cliffs framing a wild white water river. Hike through the park on one of the trails and climb the gorge to see the spectacular view from the top.

Day 10 Hualien / Taipei

Morning at leisure to explore Taroko Gorge. In the afternoon, board flight to Taipei. Visit National Palace Museum, where a special arrangement with a curator can be arrange to get the most insightful knowledge about Chinese art. Later, visit Xingtiangong Temple, erected in honor of Guan Gong, a deity who represents courage and loyalty. Stroll the streets nearby and stop on Fortune Teller’s street to see into your future.

Day 11 Dharma Drum Mountain

Travel to Dharma Drum Mountain, one of the most important Buddhist associations in Taiwan, which promotes theh spirit of Chan (Zen). DDM is founded by Venerable Master Sheng Yen, whose expansive mind and international outlook have earned him global recognition. Spend time learning about the Zen philosophy and how DDM feels Buddhism can help improve the condition of the world.

 

 

Day 12 Taipei / USA

Transfer to the airport for flight home.
