Secrets and Tips from the Insiders

Bayonet and Blackhorse are outstanding value alternatives

Aside from the well-known Pebble Beach golf course, Spyglass Hill golf course, and Links at Spanish Bay golf course, there are two more golf courses that recently reopened that offer some of the better values for Pebble Beach golf vacations.

Even before a blade of grass was touched for the current renovations, both courses were really good and tough.

Now, some of the holes have been rerouted, bunkers have been updated, and the green complexes strengthened. Finally, thanks to the removal of overgrown trees and brush, almost every hole looks out on Monterey Bay."

Golf Courses - Pebble Beach and Spyglass Hill

by Michael Castello

Two of golf's greatest courses, Pebble Beach and Spyglass, abut 17-Mile Drive - one of the most beautiful stretches of oceanfront in California.

The resort placed us in the Sloath Suite at The Lodge at Pebble Beach, with stunning views of the 18th hole and Pacific Coast.  And what living this is. Since Pebble Beach Golf Links officially opened in 1919, it has been one of the world's most prestigious spots to swing a club.

Second only to St. Andrews, Pebble Beach has the history and pageantry to match the world-class qualities. With a greens fee of $425, it is pricey, but we feel the experience is well worth it.
