Birdwood golf vacations
With spectacular Blue Ridge scenery, a recent Pete Dye renovation, rolling horse-country land, and Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary status, the University of Virginia's Birdwood golf club is a beautiful and remarkable challenge.
If that's not enough, it's one of Golf Digest's "Best Places to Play" in 2009 with 4 1/2 Stars, and the same craftsmen who built the Rotunda at the University of Virginia built the Birdwood Pavilion.
Stay and Play and Golf Challenge experiences from $229 include one night accommodations, golf, cart, and more

Tennis vacations
With 12 state-of-the-art indoor Decoturf courts and 14 outdoor Har-Tru and Deco courts, the Boar's Head Sports Club is the indoor tennis home of the nationally-ranked University of Virginia teams, the Boyd Tinsley (of Dave Matthews Band fame) USTA Women’s Tournament, and the Boar’s Head Elite Academy for top juniors.
Not to mention an annual national-level "Special Olympics Experience" invitational tournament and the last professional event played in by Anna Kournikova.
It has clearly earned its distinction as the 2008 Private Facility of the Year, as named by Racquet Sports Industry Magazine.
Tennis Getaway packages from $313 - $540 include one night accommodations, daily court time, and more

Wine and Culinary school experiences
"Travel and Leisure" recently named Virginia as one of five wine regions (along with Chile, Italy, Spain and New Zealand) that “should be on the must-visit list of any adventurous wine traveler.”
Making great use of Virginia wines, the Boar's Head holds Wine Spectator's “Award of Excellence”, offers immersive package tours of Virginia's best wineries, and hosts exclusive dinner and cooking packages with respected vintners and chefs.
The area boasts Virginia’s best wineries, and more than a dozen wineries and vineyards are within a 30-minute drive. Most are family-owned, and all welcome visitors for touring and tasting.

History packages and area tours
The 573-acre resort complements mountain scenery with hospitality, outstanding athletic and culinary experiences, and a sense of the past that embraces modern amenities without intrusion. Many rooms have the original pine beams and paneling, and the Inn's mill was originally owned by Martin Dawson, a neighbor to Thomas Jefferson
The Charlottesville area was home to three Presidents. Visit Thomas Jefferson's Monticello and University of Virginia, where you can view Edgar Allen Poe's dorm room. Tour the home of James Monroe and the famous Michie Tavern, a base of revolutionary celebration.
Step Back in History Packages from $579 include two nights' accommodations, a three-course dinner for two, two Presidents Passes to visit local historic sites, and more.

Meeting Pavilion
In today's economy, corporate meetings have taken a large downturn as companies reign in excessive spending, particularly to destinations such as Las Vegas.
However, for planners and guests of the Boar's Head in a lower-cost destination like Charlottesvillle, the newly-opened $10 Million Pavilion and Boar's Head's hospitality provide a great opportunity to pull together colleagues for critical offsite experiences.
