I’ve had so many thrilling adventures throughout the years, but I’ll never forget the marvelous time I had with my family for spring break at the incredible Terranea Resort. Interestingly enough, it was also my birthday, and my husband Alex provided me with a surprise I wouldn’t have seen from a mile away! My family and I have an undying thirst for adventure – our dinners usually end up with us planning our next trip! Since it was my birthday, Alex decided to surprise me with a special getaway in a place we hadn’t been to before. Unbeknownst to me, Alex found the Terranea Resort, a beautiful five-star resort near Los Angeles, California.
On the day of the surprise unveiling, while I had no idea where Alex was taking us, the drive up to the Terranea Hotel in Palos Verdes, California was a dream. I couldn’t get enough of admiring nature’s treasures and that glorious azure coastline. However, once we arrived at the resort, Alex informed us we had arrived at our destination. It was almost as if we stepped into a different dimension where tranquility and opulence lived harmoniously, creating a space where you can truly relax and enjoy life’s little luxuries.
He had booked two ocean-view rooms at Terranea Resort – one for my Alex and me and the other for our teen son. We entered our spacious sanctuary, which was bathed in natural light and had the most elegant furnishings. The view of the ocean made it a thousand times better, and I knew that leaving this place would be really hard. Yet, at the same time, I was so eager to experience the adventures this resort had to offer!
One thing I loved about this luxury resort near Los Angeles was their dedication to hospitality. While my husband and I were both lost in admiring the room, I completely overlooked the personalized Happy Birthday card they left on the dresser! To make the experience even better, the staff set up a delightful flower arrangement and treated us to a bottle of Prosecco. Naturally, we opened the bottle instantly and toasted for the fantastic time we were about to have!
Stretching over 102 acres, the Terranea Hotel in Palos Verdes, California, provided us with so many adventures, and my family and I didn’t know where to begin! We spent our days exploring hidden coves, hiking along scenic trails, and taking in the natural beauty around us. As the biggest outdoor enthusiasts, the diverse landscapes gave us the spring break we were dreaming about. Even watching the ocean waves crash onto the shore felt truly special – I can’t remember a time when I felt so relaxed!
In addition to being curious adventurers, we are also big foodies. Luckily, Terranea Resort offered an array of dining choices, from farm-to-table delicacies to delightful snacks by the pool. If you decide to visit, be sure to try the seafood dishes as they’re prepared with the utmost precision to taste and provide ultimate satisfaction. And don’t even get me started on the desserts! The Chocolate Dulcey Pot De Crème; Dulcey valrhona chocolate crème, soft dark chocolate ganache, sea salted chocolate cookie was delightful and another favorite was the Lemon Delizia which is Limoncello soaked sponge cake, lemon custard, passion fruit gel, yuzu shortbread, pistachio gelato.
Remember the birthday card left in my room? Well, this was only the beginning of the celebration because I had the biggest surprise-within-a-surprise waiting for me! Alex had contacted Sharon, a dear friend of mine who I hadn’t seen in over 14 years. She arrived at Terranea Resort with her family a day before we came, and my husband orchestrated the most heartwarming reunion to mark my special day.
We entered the pool area to celebrate my birthday, and Sharon was standing there with the most radiant smile on her face. I had to pinch myself multiple times to know whether what I was seeing was true! Even though 14 years had passed, our friendship remained as strong as ever, and I couldn’t let go of her embrace. We couldn’t stop reminiscing about the good old days, and I was so happy she was with the people I love the most to create even more unforgettable memories.
Naturally, the festivities didn’t stop there! We had brunch at the Catalina Restaurant inside the Terranea Resort, and it was nothing short of incredible. To make the experience even better, the head waiter, Felipe, gathered all the staff together to sing Happy Birthday to me! This celebration was truly one for the books, one that I will remember for years to come.
Unfortunately, it was time for us to say goodbye to this incredible five-star resort near Los Angeles, California. As you can imagine, farewells are always tough, but this one didn’t feel as bittersweet. On the contrary, it felt so magnificent knowing I had created memories that would serve me for a lifetime. Combined with the resort’s natural treasures and breathtaking sights, Terranea Resort truly felt like paradise.
As we were driving back home, and even long after that, I couldn’t get this hotel out of my head. Even though the adventures were over, I was so grateful for the experiences that Terranea Resort had provided us. From the majestic scenery to the thrilling birthday brunch surrounded by my closest ones, this piece of paradise gave me everything that I wanted – and more.
Our family’s spring break and birthday celebration at Terranea Resort is an experience I’ll never forget. I witnessed incredible sights, reignited old friendships, and celebrated a new year of life in the most spectacular atmosphere. Every time I look back on this tranquil adventure, I know I have the widest grin on my face because of all the memories I made there.
